Two albums of photographs and postcards of Egypt. 1890s-early 1900s


2 albums, 4to (334 x 275mm.), 237 photographs (c. 256 x 201mm., or the reverse) and postcards (140 x 90mm., or the reverse), mounted on card mostly recto only, some on the verso, postcards with printed captions, most photographs with printed captions, volume one with 2 loose photographs with manuscript captions on reverse, volume 2 with 3 loose postcards of Egyptian collection at the Louvre and the Vatican Museums, calf-backed marbled boards, black morocco labels, marbled endpapers, some prints faded and scratched, some dampstaining, bindings slightly worn


Two large albums containing many photographs and postcards from Egypt. The first album contains 114 prints of cityscapes, secular and religious architecture and local urban life, whilst the second album contains 123 prints of ancient Egyptian archaeological excavations, art and statuary, architecture and monuments, including one coloured print of a re-imagining of the ancient Temple of Ammon.
