Oblong 4to (240 x 287mm.), 142 photographs (from 76 x 52mm. to 202 x 256mm., or the reverse), some mounted up to 4 to a page, many with manuscript captions in a contemporary hand, some dated 1900 or 1901 in captions, diced red morocco gilt, edges gilt, silk endpapers, some fading of photographs at extremities, album worn and splitting at upper joint

This album contains photographs of Mombasa, Nairobi, and Zanzibar, and includes ethnographic photographs of the Askari, Masai Kikuja and Wandrobo tribes, including the Ilchamus ethnic community (Njemps). It also includes photographs of big game hunting and views of landscapes and dwellings.
