Here, a single figure stands silhouetted against a architecturally distinctive backdrop, raises his hands in submission to God, palms facing outward, as if to recite 'Allah-o-Akbar' ('God is Great'), in the pose of takhbir.
The dedication by Baugniès lower left possibly refers to the French Admiral Hyacinthe Laurent Théophile Aube (1826-1890). He held several important governmental positions, including Governor of Martinique and French Minister of Marine.
