David Seth-Smith (1875-1963) was a notable British zoologist, who authored numerous works, was a long-serving radio broadcaster for the BBC, and was a talented wildlife artist and photographer. He was a fellow of the Zoological Society, and served as their curator of Mammals and Birds. The book is accompanied by 3 autograph letters signed from David Seth-Smith to Hubert Delaval Astley (1860-1925), Rector at Ellesborough, Buckinghamshire, member of the British Ornithologists' Union, and author of My Birds in Freedom and Captivity (1900).
