An Epitome of the Natural History of the Insects of India, and the Islands in the Indian Seas. London: Printed for the author, Messrs. Rivington and others, 1800-[1804]


4to (280 x 225 mm). 9-line errata slip bound in after title, 58 handcolored engraved plates; very occasional stray spot, one plate with a little bleed from watercoloring, but an attractive copy.


Wonderfully illustrated work using specimens from Donovan's personal collection as well as the collections of John Francillon, Dru Drury and Alexander Macleay. The publication was the first of its kind to deal with India's entomology.
