Patek Philippe’s Reference 130 is considered to be one of the brands most recognizable and well-known vintage chronograph models. In production from 1936 until 1964, its design evolved over time, first produced as a single pusher, and later incorporating two pushers. The model was cased predominantly in yellow gold with fewer amounts cased in pink gold, and stainless steel. Also known as one of the most diverse chronograph models that Patek Philippe ever produced, the dial variations were numerous and displayed a range of styles, from sector designs to pulsations scales.
This present watch is a fine example of an early reference 130 chronograph, fitted with the much sought after and exceedingly rare silvered sector dial, with enamel hour markers and tachymeter scale, all confirmed by the Extract from the Archives. Sector dials were in fashion for a remarkably short time and are usually found on watches made during the second half of the 1930s. There were approximately 280 examples of the stainless steel made and there are less than 15 known with this dial configuration.
It is also interesting to know that the stainless steel version differentiates from the gold examples with slightly thicker but shorter lugs and a slightly larger diameter of 33.5 mm giving the watch a more modern, sporty, and robust masculine look.
The combination of rarity, highly attractive two-tone silvered sector dial, and the stainless steel case render it a true collector's watch.
