A Bezalel Silver Book Binding, Jerusalem, circa 1920


etched with the emblems of the 12 tribes and grapevine, filigree panel centered by a relief of Moses below a stone cabochon, fitted with an illustrated bible with colored map endpapers, signed on the clasp


Height 5 in. (12.7 cm)

On the front, an image of Moses holding the Tablets of the Law labeled in Hebrew “Our Teacher Moses, peace be upon him,” with the abbreviation for the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) below. On the spine, the names of the three parts of the Hebrew Bible. On the rear, the symbols of the Twelve Tribes labeled with their names. On the clasp, “Bezalel Jerusalem.” The book itself is an illustrated Hebrew Bible printed in Tel Aviv by Sinai Publishing.
