Description
Château Cheval Blanc 2000
St. Emilion, 1er Grand Cru Classé (A)
Levels into the neck, 2 slightly bin soiled labels, 2 slightly scuffed labels, 3 wine stained labels, 2 signs of old seepage, 4 Mexico import tags adhered to label, different importers
Harvest from 14 September to 28 September and a generous 42hl/hectare produced. They recorded 14.9% in the Merlot from clay this year. 50% Cabernet Franc, 50% Merlot. In 2021, this has great freshness and charm on the nose, surprisingly young - although this is a feature of the best 2000s. On the palate, plummy fruitiness and finesse of texture make it so drinkable now, while waiting for the cherries and leather to develop further. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
