This Japanese anime film was written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, and is based on his 1982 manga. This film was made before Studio Ghibli was founded; however, because of its connection with Hayao Miyazaki (co-founder of Studio Ghibli) it is often considered one of Ghibli's animations, and was released as part of their DVD collection. The film takes place in a future world, devastated by pollution and war. Young Princess Nausicaä, who is a warrior and peacemaker, lives in the Valley of the Wind. This valley borders a toxic jungle, and is close to two nations who are at war, and set on destroying themselves and the planet. The Valley of the Wind is caught in the middle of their battle, and Princess Nausicaä tries to make peace and create a world where humans and animals can live side-by-side.
