Spanish or Spanish Colonial, first half 17th century

A rare microcarving panel with the Last Judgement and other biblical scenes


boxwood, fabric, vegetal spines, beetle wings, feathers, painted metal, seed pearls, rubies, pastes, and an animal skull (probably mole), in a rosewood mount, with a probably later wood and gilt metal reliquary frame

panel: 28 by 18cm., 11 by 7 1/8 in.

figures: approx. 1cm., 3/8 in. to 2cm., ¾in.

frame: 53.5 by 40cm., 21 by 15¾in.
