Although the subject of the Madonna and Child with Two Angels is found in a number of drawings and prints by and after Bloemaert, no other known work corresponds in composition to this drawing, which was unknown to the late Dr. Jaap Bolten when he was compiling his 2007 catalogue of the artist's drawings.
