Nike

As one of the most celebrated Nike skate partners, Paul Rodriguez – or P-Rod –  has been given the opportunity to work on 10 signature sneaker styles. In 2006, P-Rod’s first signature sneaker was given a revamp with new materials and a colorway which some believe to be a subtle nod to the 4/20 holiday. 

These 2005 samples precede a wider, but still limited, release in 2006. The shoes are built from a breathable hemp mixed with suede and cotton. A turquoise mudguard, bright yellow Swoosh, and red lining make this sample stand out against the general release, which was dominated by hemp and mushroom suede across the uppers. 

Samples are sneakers made by the manufacturer either for promotional purposes or for testing various aspects of a design. They are far rarer than the general release pairs.
