NIKE, NIKE SB DUNK LOW PRO, SIZE 9
Canvas, Rubber, Cotton, Synthetic
2007
In 2008, Nike released this Nike SB Dunk Low that paid homage to Dutch painter Piet Mondrian. Regarded as a visionary, Mondrian was a key figure in the De Stijl movement. This school of thought proposed a new style of art which was pure abstraction - art that is reduced to geometric lines and primary colors. Inspired by this idea, Nike naturally applied the concept to the Nike SB Dunk.
The 2007 sample features defined black borders along each panel, matching the black laces and outsole. With a yellow toe, red heel panels, and a blue heel tab, the color composition is in line with Mondrian’s works and makes it one of the most recognisable SB Dunks produced.
Samples are sneakers made by the manufacturer either for promotional purposes or for testing various aspects of a design. They are far rarer than the general release pairs.
