The Nike SB Dunk High Pro ‘Brain Wreck’ marked the third Dunk collaboration with artist Todd Bratrud. Bratrud is an iconic figure and graphic designer in skateboard art, and has contributed to a number of Nike SB designs such as the SB Dunk Low Pro ‘Freddy Krueger’, SB Dunk High ‘Strawberry Cough’, and ‘Cigar’. 

This ‘Brain Wreck’ sample has an eye-catching design with a grey suede upper, white accents and Vivid Pink outsole and tongue. “BRAIN” and “WRECK” are printed in oversized text on the left and right heels respectively. Additionally, a pink pattern outline resembling a brain can be found on the shoe’s sockliner and ‘Brain Wreck’ artwork is featured on the shoe’s insole. 

With this particular pair being a sample, the design varies in several ways from the model that was ultimately released to the public. Most notably the release version consisted of a black outsole, tonal grey Swoosh and pink toe box. Another significant difference on the general release is the white lining and embroidered verbiage at the heels. 

Samples are made by the manufacturer either for promotional purposes or for testing various aspects of a design. They are far rarer than the general release pairs.
