Wang Guangle is one of the most important conceptual artists of his generation. He was the founder of the N12 group that parted from the tradition of figurative painting and individual expression.

His canvasses are made up of multiple layers of paint, focusing on the physicality of the medium and the repetitive process. The long and laborious process of creation gives his abstract paintings a peaceful and spiritual aura that some have compared to the works of Mark Rothko.
