Autograph letter signed ("L. Cherubini"), in Italian, to Spontini
enclosing the prospectus [contained with this lot] for the publishing of a missa solemnis of his for four voices, asking him to obtain subscribers for him in Berlin, regarding him as he does the best advocate for his interests, noting that if it were possible to gain his Majesty as a subscriber that would represent the pinnacle of his hopes, and asking him to give his respects to General Witzleben and also to Madame Spontini

The missa solemnis in question here was presumably the Mass in C which Cherubini had written some eight years earlier, and whose publication is presumed to date from 1825.
