Emile Fillioux

The current owners of lots 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2023 inherited the paintings from their mother, Claude Madoc-Jones (ne Fillioux), who was born in Hanoi in 1930. The pieces were collected by her father Emile Fillioux, who left France for Indo-China in the early 1920s to work as an engineer on the Haiphong to Kunming railway. In this capacity he often travelled between Hanoi, where the family was based, and Kunming. Emile Fillioux remained in Vietnam until 1947.
