Giancarlo Gentilini suggests that this charming composition, another example of which is in the Museo Civico, Pesaro (op. cit., p. 464), could be the result of a collaboration between Giovanni della Robbia (1469-1529) and Giovanni Francesco Rustici (1475–1554), the latter of whom entrusted the glazing of his large relief of Noli me tangere, in the Museo Nazionale del Bargello in Florence, to Della Robbia (op. cit., p. 452). However, Gentilini states that this is strictly conjecture. Further research may tell us more about this possible collaboration.
