From whom acquired.
D. Miller, Marcantonio Franceschini, Turin 2001, pp. 91-92, reproduced p. 91, fig. S53 and in color opp. p. 99, plate LVIII (as Giacomo Boni).

Giacomo Boni worked in Marcantonio Franceschini's workshop and assisted his aging master with many large-scale fresco and church decoration projects in first decades of the 18th century. Miller dates the present work to circa 1718, on the basis of stylistic similarities with a documented painting by Boni of Achilles as a Child delivered to Chiron painted for the Palazzo Durazzo Pallavicini in Genoa.1
