Zojo-ji Temple in Shiba is the head temple of the Jodo sect of Japanese Buddhism in the Kanto Region. The temple held close ties with the Tokugawa shogunate who ruled Japan during the Edo period (1603-1868). Six of the Tokugawa shoguns are entombed in the Taitoku-in Mausoleum within the temple's grounds.
