Although less well known today, William McEvoy was an accomplished landscape painter, predominantly of Irish and Welsh landscapes before moving to London in 1865. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin up until 1880. Bathed in evening light, in the present work McEvoy present a sweeping panoramic view looking towards Glengariff from the Kenmare pass.
