In 1954 Scandinavian Airlines System carried out the first commercial flight between Copenhagen and Los Angeles. The flight was a success but proved a difficult one given the long distance - more than 2,600 km- the low temperatures and the exposure to the highly magnetic field of the North Pole that would deem navigation tools inaccurate. As a result, the Scandinavian company requested a timepiece from Universal Genève able to withstand such problematic and dangerous conditions which resulted in the creation of the present watch. Paired with history and a charismatic design this watch will add scope to any horological collection.
