The Greubel Forsey Tourbillon 24 Secondes Contemporain is a timepiece entirely developed to showcase the 24 second tourbillon by providing a three-dimensional vision in a circular case. A transparent, synthetic sapphire tourbillon bridge offers a captivating and hypnotic impression of the regulator floating in mid-air and underlines just one of the highly creative elements found throughout the timepiece. The movement is constructed in titanium and the royal blue finish of the plates and bridges elevate the visuals to another level. This intense blue finish was achieved through a special oxidation process that plays with light, providing the timepiece an unparalleled energy. This timepiece is part of a very limited series set with diamonds. In total, the case and dial have 272 baguette diamonds for a total weight of 9.71 carats.
The round 43.50mm diameter case houses a movement comprising 267 components, 88 for the tourbillon cage alone which weighs 0.39 grams only. Two coaxial mainspring barrels in series provide an optimal power reserve of 72 hours. The hour and minute ring is in synthetic sapphire, reinforcing the three-dimensional aspect, while the small seconds sub-dial and power reserve indicator are in gold. The case band is decorated with the finely engraved philosophy of Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey.
