The enchanting perpetual calendar chronographs from Patek Philippe has always been highly appreciated by watch collectors of grand complications. Initialized by the reference 1518 in the early 1940s, the legacy of perpetual calendar chronographs live on with its harmonic dial layout and traditional case design.
Launched in 2004, the reference 5970 is a modern classic and was in fact, the very first watch designed by the current Patek Philippe president Thierry Stern, who envisioned a watch that bridges between the generation of his father, Philippe Stern and the current generation. The present example in platinum is definitely an exemplifier of the collection. To the best of our knowledge, the 5970 was only produced in platinum for two years from 2009 to 2010, and not more than 500 pieces were made, making it the rarest variation out of the four different rare metals. With a black dial, contrasting tachymeter and leaf shaped hands, the present example exhibits a phenomenal presence on the wrist.
