The present reference 1518 was serviced and overhauled at Patek Philippe in 2005 where the firm replaced the case back, together with a fitting a new gold bezel. These new replacement parts give this wristwatch a very modified and unique modern appearance.
The reference 1518 was first introduced to the market in 1941 until 1954. A total of 281 examples were manufactured which is an incredibly small number compared to today's standards.
