As a former watchmaker and creative director for Patek Philippe, Laurent Ferrier is one of the independent watchmakers that truly captures the minimalistic approach towards fine watchmaking. Limited to only 5 pieces, the present Galet is the last example of the 5 and it was made to commemorate the 110th anniversary of Kamine, a renowned Japanese authorized retailer.

Unlike other Galets in the collection, the present watch is given an unblemished, prestige grand feu enamel dial where usually it is preserved for tourbillon and limited edition platinum watches. Highlighted with a touch of red at 12 o’clock and around the sub-seconds, the aesthetics are simply stunning. Alongside its signature spear-like hands and elongated Roman numerals, it could be the most visually appealing wristwatch in the collection.

Turn the watch back, and the hand-finished movement is a treat for the eye, mind-blowing to watch. Matching modern standards, Laurent Ferrier included a unidirectional fan-shaped micro-rotor to enhance efficiency and reliability whilst showcasing the scenery of the entire automatic movement. Utilizing an ingenious dual direct-impulse escapement, the amplitude is maintained while less energy is used to transfer power from the mainspring to the balance wheel.
