The ideal watch for all, the Explorer collection of Rolex is a watch of great history and simplicity. Bearing the 3-6-9 “Explorer dial” which many Rolex collectors adore, the Reference 1016 was in production for an incredible 29 years from 1960 to 1989. During its production there have been many noticeable alterations found by collectors, such as improvements from the hands, dial, case to bracelet. 

The present example bearing a matte dial is a late MK 1 dial that can be distinguished by its stylistic “Frog Foot” coronet on the dial. With a matching case to the dial, the present watch is a great example of a daily watch for enthusiasts of vintage Rolex.
