Speaking of unique case designs, the first one that comes to mind would be none other than the Cartier Crash. Created during the swinging sixties in London, an era when the world was finally free from war and restraints, revolutionary concepts in art, music and fashion were flourishing. The freedom to elicit new ideas had inspired Jean-Jacques Cartier and his team to invent such an unusual, non-traditional watch in the Maison.

Whilst the movement only consists of hour and minute hands, the case design is the main complication of the watch. Asymmetrical yet avant-garde, the stylistic appeal of the Crash symbolizes the definition of time being uncertain and unrestrained. Pairing with the distorted fonts in the dial, it has become one of the most iconic watches created in the swinging sixties. Given the historical significance and production in limited numbers, the Crash is the ultimate representation of Cartier’s legacy and it is a rare opportunity to acquire such a signature timepiece in the collection.
