Always known for his meticulous technique and passion for watchmaking, F.P. Journe launched yet another great masterpiece Centigraphe Souverain in 2008 and it was later crowned L'Aiguille d'Or (the grand prize for the best watch) in the same year. Alongside the incredible achievement, the collection made its way to become a commemorative piece to celebrate the milestone for the 10th anniversary of their boutiques worldwide. The current watch, in particular, is one of 20 pieces made for the Hong Kong boutique.
With the unique layout of the skeletonised chronograph registers, the watch not only is the first hand-wound wristwatch to measure elapsed times from 100th of a second to 10 minutes, but it also pushed the chronograph complication to perfection by isolating the timekeeping segment in the same movement. Unlike other conventional watches, the chronograph function in the present watch can be triggered by an ingeniously designed ergonomic system with a rocker arm where it can reduce the slight energy loss and inaccuracy upon activation.
This special edition of Centigraphe Souverain is encased in titanium and a hint of pink gold in the pusher and the crown, an unusual and remarkable combination. Coupling with the harmonious ruthenium and pink dial, it establishes a huge presence among other chronographs. With absolute finesse and the market for F.P. Journe stronger than ever, the Centigraphe Anniversaire remains one of the greatest depictions of metropolitan elegance in generations to come.
