Surely one of the most iconic chronographs, the Daytona family has seen different styles and variations since the reference 6239 in the 1960s. After Rolex had completely ceased the production of its Zenith based movement in the early 2000s, the brand decided to design and manufacture its own in-house movement, the calibre 4130, starting a new chapter in the history of the Daytona. This highly reliable and efficient movement is still used by Rolex today after more than 20 years.
The present example reference 116509 is a contemporary interpretation of the Cosmograph Daytona collection. With a rare grey dial contrasting with the large Arabic numerals for greater legibility, the overall sporty appeal is elevated by the hue of 3 red hands and registers.
