Founded in 1875, Audemars Piguet is one of the oldest watch manufacturers still under ownership of the original families. To celebrate the company’s 125th anniversary, the Jules Audemars Grande Sonnerie Dynamograph was created as part of the classic collection. This watch was named after Jules Audemars, one of the founders, to pay homage to his contribution to the firm.
With a long standing history of creating striking complications, the brand perfected the minute repeating function with the carillon mechanism which strikes quarter hours at different pitches with three hammer strokes on different gongs, therefore bringing a fascinating musical effect when activated. The dynamograph function provides instantaneous indication of the torque of the mainspring barrel, hence allowing optimum performance. This watch exemplifies Audemars Piguet’s technical and aesthetic excellence in watch making.
The sonneire function, which would only usually be found in clocks, allows the wearer to set the watch in GS (grande sonnerie) position, allowing the movement to strike the hours and quarters on passing, the PS (petite sonnerie) position, automatically striking only the hours on passing or S (silence). In addition, the button located at the 10 position can be depressed at any time, providing sufficient power in the mainspring, to strike the hours, quarters and minutes on request.
The current watch is presented in exceptional condition and complete with all its accessories.
