A German Silver Set of a Pair of Torah Finials and Torah Shield, Maker’s Mark H D italics, Circa 1810


the finials of two-tier square tower form, hung with two rows of bells, die-stamped borders of flowerheads and leaves on lined ground, openwork crown tops with pinecone finials, the staves topped by chased palm and acanthus, each marked with maker’s mark and 13; the rectangular Shield with triple- arched top chased with acanthus, the lower center with portion plaque compartment fitted with five portion plaques, two double -sided, within a chased oval wreath all flanked by columns topped by lions holding a chased crown and mantle, the base hung with four bells, also marked with the same maker’s mark and 13
