The present lot presents an intriguing combination of Cartier’s time-honored use of carved hardstone with an organic gold texture in keeping with their aesthetic of the late 1960’s and 1970’s. The juxtaposition of the deep blue hues of lapis lazuli with bright turquoise and rich emerald creates a playful color palette of striking contrasts. The melon-form of the carved lapis lazuli bead terminals lend an archaic yet sophisticated accent to the whimsical vine-like design which trail along as if growing naturally around the wearer’s wrist.
