Meticulously painted and outlined in gold on black-lacquered paper, the present album depicts courtesans and their lovers as they enjoy various forms of intimate activities in opulently decorated interiors. The figures, either dressed or naked, are accentuated by their light colours, which contrast with the dark backgrounds.
