A Faenza dated berrettino-ground dish, 1536


with a deep well and broad rim, painted to the centre in a bright palette with a scantily draped female figure, perhaps an allegory of Vice, the pale-blue-ground well with white leaf fronds below a band of scrolling foliage, the border with grotesques reserved with five elongated rectangular cartouches, each dated, four 1536, the fifth with an indistinct date, the underside with two bands of fretted dentil ornament divided by concentric circles
