Leon Blum

Autograph manuscript signed, entitled "Autonomie et unite du Syndicalisme"

with autograph revisions throughout, on problems within the French Trade Union movement in maintaining its tradition of autonomy in the face of Communist agitators, 6 pages, 8vo, [December 1946], printer's marks, spindle holes

"...L'idée force Autonomie est en conflit avec l'idée force unité..."

Léon Blum was the first Socialist Prime Minister of France as leader of the Popular Front in 1936. He spent the Second World War as a prisoner in German concentration camps. This article addresses the attempts by the Communist Party, which was very powerful in the immediate post-war years, to take control of the Trade Union movement.
