comparing the Revolution of 1688 in England [that saw James II deposed and William and Mary brought to the throne] with the French Revolution, in which he concludes that although the Stuarts found refuge in Rome and had the status of "martyrs of the Catholic faith", such a course of action would not be possible for Louis himself because the present Pope is weak and Rome is too close to France in order to ensure safety, 3 pages, 4to, n.d., written on the right-hard side of each page, the left hand column of the first page containing references, browning at gutter


"...la révolution de 1688, confinée dans la seule Angleterre, ne faisoit courir aucun risque aux autres Puissances et pouvoit très bien coexister avec elles. La nôtre au contraire, fondée sur des principes généraux, est véritablement incompatible avec toute souveraineté, et dolt nécessairement périr, ou les détruire toutes, c'est une vérité qui est si prouvée qu'elle n'a pas besoin de l'être de nouveau..."
