i) Neville Chamberlain, typed letter signed, to Max Aitken, Lord Beaverbrook ("Dear Max"), informing him, prior to his announcement in Parliament, of his plan to reduce the interest rate on War Loans ("...The country is in a mood for a bold policy, and will, I am confident, respond generously to my appeal..."), 2 pages, 4to, headed "Very secret", embossed stationery of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Treasury Chambers, 30 June 1932, pin-holes


ii) Sir Frederick Lugard, autograph letter signed, to "Sir Donald" (possibly Sir Donald Charles Cameron, then governor of Tanganyika), urging him to write to the Prime Minister on proposals relating to the method of Government in the East Africa ("...The issues involved affect not only the 5 dependencies in E. Africa and the maintenance of Imperial control there, but also our relations with India and S. Africa, and the relations between the White and Coloured races throughout the world..."), 4 pages, 4to, docketed at head ("-ansd. have already written to PM in this sense"), Little Parkhurst, Abinger Common, 21 June 1929
