Initially requested by a Hong Kong client and friend of the Genta’s, the Chinese Zodiac series inspired in the Gentas a lifelong fascination and appreciation of Chinese astrology. Following the first design, and on their return to Switzerland, the couple immersed themselves in books on the subject, with Gérald becoming fascinated with his own sign - the Goat - considered to represent great creativity. Incorporating the animals and zodiacs into not only the dial but also the shapes of the watches, an extraordinary series of watches emerged, and continue to be much sought after by watch collectors to this day.

The current lot is created for the Chinese Zodiac, The Year of the Dragon. The Dragon represents a symbol of good fortune and strength, an honoured beast, to be revered and respected. Dragons and free spirits, not to be confined or hindered. Their confidence comes from within and is not a thing of hubris.
