Like many of the world’s great wines, Massandra is a winery with a folklorish legend – founded in the late 1800s and located in the Crimean Peninsula, the winery was the official wine purveyor of Russian royalty vacationing at the Livadia Palace and sought to produce the best wine in the world.
The Massandra collection was under a consistent barrage for over two decades, and in due course remained largely hidden, with much of its contents being evacuated to various parts of Russia. It wasn’t until 1944 that the palaces of Crimea would begin to experience sustained peace. With the peninsula’s liberation complete, the entire contents of the collection were returned to its rightful stronghold.
Wines from the Massandra Collection are extremely rare, prized and unbelievably long-lived, with a fantastical story and history to boot – whether to gift for a significant milestone or to simply enjoy a wine like no other in the world with your loved ones this holiday season, the wines of the Massandra Collection are worthy of and fitting for even the most important of occasions. These fortified wines are deep, full-flavored and drink like fine tawny port.
