Justice Warren Shepro, The Justice Warren Shepro Collection of Clocks, Inventory No. 1279, Sotheby New York, April 26, 2001, Lot 7.

The watch was made by the well-known French clock and watch maker, Robert Robin (1741-1799), In 1784, Robin began serving as the clockmaker to the King, as the watch signature denotes. In 1786, Robin continued his service to the Queen, Marie-Antoinette.

It is particularly unusual to note that the present watch is signed to the dial plate bezel, “Robin HOGR. Du Roy.”
