Known for its exceptional and unorthodox design, Cartier has been a household name that is known for many iconic case designs which includes the Crash, Tank Parallelogram and the Tonneau such as the present watch.

The original Tonneau was first introduced in 1906, just two years after the invention of the first men’s wristwatch. Bearing a tonneau-shaped case, the watch strongly reminds one of the tastes of the Art-Deco period. The present watch fitted in a heavy 18k pink gold case was made during the Cartier "Collection Privée Cartier Paris" period, a time when Cartier went back to their core principles from the "Quartz Era", with a renewed focus on design and mechanics. As a very important element for connoisseurs the present Cartier Tortue is highly desirable in the market today.
