An interesting and unusual silver open-faced dual time zone watch, the movement incorporating separate cylinder and lever escapements

Circa 1870


Movement: unsigned gilded, the mainplate incorporating two separate movements, each with standing barrel and plain three-arm balance, one with cylinder escapement, the other with lever escapement, the cylinder escapment with provision for the centre seconds

Dial: white enamel, two subsidiary dials for the separate time zones, each with Roman numerals and blued steel hands, blued steel centre seconds, outer seconds ring, polychrome enamel painted decoration with a maiden to the top, a basket of flowers to the base

Case: plain polished case, stepped bezel, cuvette engraved with movement details 'Ancre, Ligne Droite, Cylindre', flat hinged back, cuvette numbered 1876, 62
