A verge watch with polychrome enamel painted dial and simple automaton

Circa 1815

• Movement:unsigned, gilded full plate, verge escapement, decoratively pierced and engraved balance bridge, fusee and chain 

• Dial: white enamel, subsidiary mean time dial, Arabic numerals, outer minute ring, surrounded by polychrome enamel scene of French ships at sea, troops massed on the foreground next to a fort, aperture to lower centre revealing advancing troops 

• Case: single cased, the back with cast high relief bewigged bust of a gentleman
