Arthur Joseph Gaskin was an artist and designed. He met Georgie, his wife, while they were both students at The Birmingham School of Art. The School had close ties to William Morris and the blossoming Arts and Crafts movement. Arthur and Georgie Gaskin began creating jewellery in 1899. Arthur Gaskin predominantly worked in the enamel aspect of the business and Georgie the jewellery. Their jewellery designs were heavily influenced by the Art Nouveau movement and are rarely signed but characterised by designs of closely-packed leaves and flowers set with gemstones.
