Ryuryukyo Shinsai (1764–1820)

Two surimono

Edo period, 19th century

 

each a woodblock print, surimono, signed Shinsai, privately published circa 1810s, and comprising:

- A box decorated with peacock feathers, beside coins, coral, and plum blossom, commissioned for the Taikogawa Poetry Circle

- An open fan, decorative boxes and a pocketbook with its fittings


Both surimonoshikishiban: each approximately 21.2 x 18.9 cm., 8½ x 7½.
