A remarkable group of very early photographs, contact sheets, and negatives. [St. Paul, MN: ca. 1960]


9 photographic prints (various sizes: largest 315 x 266 mm; smallest 118 x 97 mm). 2 on photographic paper, the rest on thick cardstock, 7 of the prints with “Dillon” handwritten in pencil on rectos, 1 with “CREDIT | Deanna Harris Hoffman | St. Paul, Minnesota” stamped twice in black on recto; 2 prints with some abrasion to recto, one with tiny loss to right margin, others with some mild wear at edges. [With]: 39 photographic portraits on 5 contact sheets (various sizes: 252 x 202 mm; 252 x 100 mm; 125 x 202 mm). Photographs annotated, with 3 marked by X’s and 2 circled, each with handwritten note in pencil on recto, reading either “Bob Dillon,” “Dillon,” “Proof | Gretel,” “Gretel,” or “Proof | Dillon”; one sheet with a large crease, the rest with some minor creasing and light rubbing at edges. [With]: 10 photographic portraits (various sizes, but most: 250 x 202 mm; 216 x 187 mm; 121 x 171 mm; 127 x 102 mm). One portrait with “Dylan | Gretel” handwritten in pencil on the recto, all others with “Dillon” handwritten in pencil on the recto, some with a black stamp reading “CREDIT | Deana Harris Hoffman | St. Paul, Minnesota,” some with “Hoffman” in pencil, one with cursive signature in pencil; some light wear at edges but otherwise pristine. [And]: 56 photographic negatives (various sizes: 124 x 100 mm; 34 x 40 mm; 60 x 60 mm).
