García Márquez, Gabriel

Cien años de soledad. Buenos Aires: Editorial Sudamericana, 1967

8vo (197 x 130 mm). Inscribed on the preliminary blank; tanned at margins, offset staining to the preliminary and terminal blanks due to tape. In the original pictorial wrappers; wrappers covered in plastic protector taped down to inside covers, spine cracked but holding and with vertical reading creases, slightly cocked.

First edition, inscribed by the author, "Para Susi, con la amistad de GABO | 1967." García Márquez's most famous and popular novel, One Hundred Years of Solitude, is now recognized as one of the most significant works of Latin American literature. The novel contributed towards him being awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1982, with his acceptance speech, titled "The Solitude of Latin America," directly reflecting the book. Inscribed first editions are scarce.
