A three-coloured gold and enamel snuff box, Souchay & Colins, Hanau, circa 1820/1825

rectangular with rounded corners, the lid centred with a chased vase abundant with roses, parrot tulips, lily-of-the-valley and other flowers, within rich foliage and plumy scrollwork in high relief, framed by an acanthus and a vitruvian scroll border terminating in stylised rose-gold tulips in each corner, on a sablé ground, within opaque black enamel border, the sides also decorated with floral foliage on a matted ground, the corners and borders picked out in dark blue enamel, the base chased with two caryatids holding a flower basket, surrounded by scrollwork, maker’s mark, town mark, in original leather presentation case, the base with a label reading A1069
