oval, the lid painted en plein en grisaille of varying dates with allegorical representations of arts and architecture, within a chased foliage and ovolo border on a sablé ground, the sides with garland-hung columns as dividers, the base similarly decorated and painted with four putti as an allegory, unmarked apart from one unidentified mark
